"car boot next left"

It was on a routine trip to the supermarket to buy some tea and other vital essentials ( probably some chocolate hob-nobs). When i drove past an all familiar sign of the British summer.
A piece of wood, propped against a lamp post at the side of the road with " car boot, next left, tea and coffee" painted in red paint with a large brush.
I could smell the burger van as i pulled in trying desperately to think what it was that i might need. excitement affected my parking as i pulled in to a space on the village green.
why is it that car boot's are always in fields miles away from the nearest cash point? i only had five pounds on me!
It wasn't long before the rain started and i hurried from stall to stall. I came to a lady eating a bacon sandwich dripping with grease and asked "how much it that scanner?"
"oh!..i don't know love...its not my stall"
so i stood in the rain and waited for twenty minutes for the proprietor to return. The longer he took the more i thought about how the rain water would affect electrical goods. if i hadn't been after this exact type of scanner for some time now i would have left. On his return it was straight to business, "well" he said "I wanted a fiver for it, but I'm willing to do a deal!"
I gave him my only five pounds and made my escape straight home to See if it worked.

Now i can scan, i can dust off the sx70 and start using it again.
